Song submission guidelines

There have been great developments and suggestions for the circle. We will update the songbook with a new index page once every three months. Please follow the link in the signature section of the e-mails from the circle.

  • We decided to play any song a few times over to gain confidence in playing before we move on to the next song.
  • We will play easier chord songs in the beginning to allow Beginners to have a chance to warm up and practice.
  • Patrick and I would like to suggest guidelines for song submission to keep the inflow of new songs as smooth and as efficient as possible into the next edition of the songbook.  Updated songbooks will be released once every three months. We want those songs that you love to be submitted but we are the bottleneck in updating books. In order for the songs to be shared and embedded in the songbook quickly we would like you to have them organized:
  1.  Submitted electronically in a Word file i.e .doc, not .docx (yet).
  2. The fonts that we think is most universal at this time — Arial – 12 - 14 point size
  3. Title (at the top with index specified; no need to insert into a header, to maintain universality)
  4. First note and key (at the bottom; no need for footer. Keep it simple)
  5. Name of file including the key in which the music is written e.g. “Bobby McGee in C.doc”
  6.  Use of the two-column format if needed (keep character length shorter for better readability)
  7. Plain black type, again for universality. Colour type comes out grey or very hard to read when printed on a black ink only printer)
